Bi-Lo ~ I Saved 57% (a.k.a. This is what happens when you take your husband with you)

Okay, let me say up front that I absolutely adore my husband. And my children. They are my favorite people, and I like having them around all the time. Except, of course, when trying to save money at the grocery store. My sweet husband joined me at Bi-Lo, and here's how we did:

Amazing Deals:
  • Mt. Olive peppers (jalapenos, salad peppers, etc.) (reg. $2.45) - paid $0.22
  • Chef Michael dry dog food (reg. $3.99) - FREE!
  • Pop Secret popcorn (reg. $2.73) - paid $0.26
  • Smart Balance popcorn (reg. $2.69) - paid $0.64
  • Scott Naturals paper towels (reg. $7.99) - paid $2.99

Good Deals:

  • Quaker granola bars (reg. $2.79) - paid $0.80 each
  • Southern Home tortilla chips (reg. $2.00) - paid $1.00
  • Southern Home pretzels (reg. $1.25) - paid $0.62
  • Mentos gum (reg. $1.35) - paid $0.25
  • Farm Rich frozen cheese sticks (reg. $7.79) - paid $2.89
  • Tornados (reg. $2.50) - paid $1.00
  • Cheez-Its (reg. $3.99) - paid $1.24
  • Gwaltney bacon (reg. $3.59) - paid $1.79
  • 3-lb. bag of apples (reg. $3.99) - paid $1.99

Things I bought strictly because my husband accompanied me:

  • Lays Kettle Chips - paid $3.00
  • Bread - paid $1.99
  • Honey - paid $2.99
  • Sargento Sliced Cheddar Cheese - paid $2.99
  • Sargento Sliced Swiss Cheese - paid $2.99
  • Milk - paid $3.19 (okay, we actually needed this, but it's easy to blame on him)
  • Deli Ham - paid $1.74

Now we need to talk about this week's meal deal: buy 2 Tombstone pizzas for $10.78, get 1 box Totino's pizza rolls, 1 box TGIFriday's Quesadillas, and a 6-pack Pepsi for FREE.

I was really excited about this deal, because I had $1 off pizza rolls coupon + $1 off TGIFriday's coupon, so I would really be getting all of this for only $8.78. HOWEVER, (This is reason #2 to go shopping ALONE whenever possible) I was trying not to inconvenience my husband by standing in the frozen food aisle for 15 minutes, so I rushed and accidentally only got ONE pizza. I ended up paying $4 more AND getting only one pizza! See...if you feel like you are the only one who messes up a good deal and then walks to her car wondering what happened, you are WRONG! :) I am still mad about this one...

Total before savings: $145.57

Total after savings: $62.94

I saved 57%.

(P.S. - If you want to snag any of these deals, or to check out the entire list, visit Southern Savers here for all the coupon match-ups!)
